TD Canada Trust Scholarship Kathy Brunsdon, our Head Receptionist, must be very proud of her daughter Denise and her accomplishments. Being awarded this prestigious scholarship is just the most recent. Denise heard of a project at a local mall to give Christmas presents to needy children, and initiated a similar project at her school. In the first year Project Angel purchased and distributed gifts for more than fifty children, and has since expanded to eight schools helping five hundred children. Denise has also led the 30-hour famine, a fund-raising event to fight world hunger, for the last three years. Last year she proposed and co-ordinated Teacher Appreciation Week, and has served as student council president, editor of the school newspaper, and has played volleyball for six years. Denise is considering a career in journalism. TD Canada Trust honours 20 Canadian High School students for outstanding community leadership by awarding each of them a scholarship worth up to $50,000, including full tuition to a Canadian universiity or college, an extra $3,500 a year for living expenses, and summer employment at TD Canada Trust for up to four years. |
